Head of Structures & Interiors

Role Overview

The Head of Structures & Interiors reports to the Head of Engineering (Chief Engineer) and has broad responsibility for the design of the entire airframe and interiors. You will lead a multi-functional design team, covering all structural design, stress, system installation design and interiors design.

You will be responsible for providing technical leadership of the structures and interiors team. You will be responsible for the design, test, certification and support of the aircraft airframe and its structural systems within the ES-19 program. This position is also responsible for materials & processes (M&P). As a team leader, you will also assist with organizing and hiring the structures and interiors engineering team

You will also represent the structures and interiors department at program/technical reviews as well as customers/supplier meetings, ensuring the engineering definition meets all stakeholder requirements. You will also ensure adherence to all engineering processes/standards, and participate in design reviews to meet certification, cost, schedule and manufacturability goals.

Qualifications & Experience

- Graduate degree in aerospace, aeronautical similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 20 years experience in an engineering leadership position within an aerospace OEM company environment, including the conceptual and preliminary design phase.
- Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Direct experience with the role of the Head of Structures within an approved design organization.
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Catia v5 or NX.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.

The ideal candidate would have

- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment.
- Significant aircraft conceptual and preliminary design experience on a CS-23 or regional aircraft program at a leading OEM or start-up.
- Proficiency coordinating activities of engineers in partner supplier companies.
- Experience in CAM.
- Working knowledge of FEM
