Arbetsbeskrivning
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Do you want to be in the driver's seat of Scania´s journey into Asia? And be involved in developing products for the Chinese market? Then this position is something for you!
To become one of the biggest and most profitable Truck manufacturers in Asia, Scania is increasing our presence in the Chinese markets through a new production plant as well as building local R&D capabilities.
Both the product and the R&D organisation are now in the start-up phase. If you enjoy being a first-mover in executing bold strategies you will enjoy the journey we have ahead of us!
The speed and the quality of our strategy execution will be the most important differentiator in the coming years ahead.
If you are an advocate for simulation-based design and prototype-free design this is the right challenge for you!
In order to succeed with the launch plan ahead of us, we need to be pioneers in taking decisions mainly based on simulation results. For that reason, we are now looking for a senior and ambitious manager to head the testing and simulation function within the R&D organisation.
Job Description
As Head of the testing and simulation function, you will be responsible for building up an organization that can support all the design functions within R&D in all development phases but particularly in the early phases to set the different product characteristics.
Testing and simulation function spans a wide area of responsibilities
• Simulation of linear resistance, rigidity, and dynamics of different vehicle components through FEA software (such as body, chassis, and steering system)
• Simulation of vehicle kinematics or nonlinear deformation as well as aerodynamic simulation of the exterior surface or simulation of airflow in the engine compartment.
• Crash and acoustic simulations.
• Verification and certification testing. Defining when testing is needed in order to verify or certify our product. Balancing between in-house testing and outsourcing tests
Your role
In your role as Head of testing and simulation, you will have a crucial role in creating an efficient R&D organisation. Defining the acceptance criteria and the balance between simulation and testing will have a direct impact on product quality, cost, and time.
Your profile
To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to create your own conditions, and be one step ahead in terms of strategy and vision combined with a strong analytical ability and a strong will to achieve significant results together with the rest of the R&D team. You see opportunities when others see obstacles and get energy from the challenge.
Good technical competence, product knowledge, and the willingness to investigate challenging issues in an objective way are a must. You need to be able to freely switch between details and a holistic perspective. You are probably an experienced leader with deep relevant technical knowledge and strong drive who has shown that you can handle complexity through simplicity and is inspired by this position since it will give you a platform to generate impact in the Scania Journey towards being the global champion.
Your location
