Your tasks
The Radioactive Waste Management Group, comprising a head of group, an engineer and four technicians, is responsible for the collection, treatment and conditioning of nuclear waste on the ILL site.
You will report to the Head of the Health Physics, Safety and Environment Service and will have the following duties:
-Managing the five-person team (annual leave schedule, annual interviews, organising and supervising work, liaising with other ILL services, leading weekly meetings, developing the team's skills set, etc.)
-Liaising with the waste management agencies ANDRA and CYCLIFE/CENTRACO to monitor contracts, documentation and specific requests, planning of shipments, etc.
-Acting as transport safety advisor (CST - Conseiller Sécurité Transport) class 7: validation of shipping documents, audit, annual report, training of ILL staff
-Acting as technical controller for waste management and on-site transport operations and maintaining the waste study (étude déchets) and the general operating rule relating to waste
-Managing the waste management process: application of the Integrated Management System (IMS), monitoring of developments to keep documentation up to date, participation in audits, sample audits and process reviews, drafting of waste reports, etc.
-Managing the process for the on-site transport of hazardous materials: application of the IMS, monitoring of developments to keep documentation up to date, participation in audits, sample audits and process reviews, signing of transport documents, ILL staff training, etc.
-Providing forecasts for waste production/shipping and managing the associated budget
-Participating in emergency response exercises
-Monitoring and assisting with radioactive work sites and with the application of waste zoning on site, checking signage, ensuring compliance with waste zoning, etc.
-Ensuring that inventories are up to date, monitoring stocks, ordering packaging, etc.
-Involvement in various matters, both internal and external to the ILL: participation in reactor shutdown coordination and preparation meetings (planning, resource management, etc.), participation in waste and transport inspections by the French nuclear safety authorities ASN (Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire), etc.
In addition to your duties, you will also act as an advisor to the nuclear operator for questions regarding radioactive waste, as well as being a contact person to ensure compliance with waste treatment requirements in the ILL's buildings and work areas (fire risk management, verification of signage, etc.).
Your profile
-Level 7 qualification (Master's degree or equivalent) plus at least 5 years of experience in a similar post, including team management experience
-Expertise in nuclear metrology is required
-Excellent writing skills in French
-Knowledge of Basic Nuclear Installations (INB - Installation Nucléaire de Base) and the INB ministerial decree (arrêté INB)
-You must be independent, methodical and meticulous in your work, with strong team player skills.
