About the role
As CEO/Head of Fortum Waste Solutions in Sweden you are responsible for leading and guiding the day-to-day activities and business, but also to guide the company into the future. You will manage the Fortum’s Waste Management Services business in Sweden, with full profit & loss responsibility along with accountability of the business planning and target setting. That includes developing the local business and operative performance according to the strategy.
The responsibility comprises operational functions such as waste treatment operations, commercial activities and service sales, supply chain and their performance and development. Safety plays a key role in all activities. Therefore you understand the necessary regulation, and you ensuring safe practices in all business operations and that the regulations of waste management are being followed.
The role is a member of the Fortum Recycling & Waste management team, where you take part in developing the whole business area. You report to Vice President for Business Area Recycling & Waste at Fortum. Your primary location is on the site in Kumla, with is the largest site in Sweden, but travel to other sites in Sweden occurs.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you need to have
- Relevant academic education/degree
- Fluent speaking and writing in both Swedish and English
- More than five years of previous experience in leading and managing both people and business operations, preferably from a similar or industrial environment
- Experience of full P&L responsibility and from leading operational excellence and change
- Understanding of end-to-end processes and optimization of value chains
- Understanding of the importance of safety standards, code of conduct and compliance
It is preferred if you have experience from technical services, supply chain and sales, worked a company of the same scale and experience from leadership in a matrix organization.

You can see the bigger picture and you like the combination of strategic and operative work. At the same time, you are responsible and structured, and you ensure that decisions and activities are carried out and follow up.
Since the role involves many interfaces and contacts it requires a good communicative and collaborative ability. It also needs strong social skills and high level of inter-cultural understanding. If you have experience in crisis management, it is a merit.
