Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
The department for Industrial Design, Interaction Design and Physical Ergonomics performs a central role in the creation and communication of Scania´s transformation towards driving the shift. By defining the product expression and customer experience, we keep the current platform up to date, whilst also tracing the future for our vehicles and services.
With a broad portfolio of projects in relation to a more sustainable and digital future, we are now expanding and looking for a studio engineer.
Your role
As a studio engineer you will be the link between the design studio and the engineering departments. It’s a highly communicative role, where you will focus on finding the best solution combining high level technical feasibility with ensuring the defined product expression.
You will work in a highly competent and motivated group with high team spritit, in close cooperation with surface modellers and automotive designers, as well as other competences outside the design studio.
As a studio engineer, you will be in the centre of the development process, gathering knowledge and information to be communicated to your closest co-workers in order to create surface models fulfilling all demands.
Your profile
We’re looking for someone who is communicative, solution focused and able of seeing things from many perspectives. You need to be open for trying new things and finding the best solution, but at the same time, don’t be afraid to speak your mind and set clear boundaries.
In order to handle the role in a good way, you need to have:
• Previous experience within mechanical design, preferably at least 5 years.
• Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical design, industrial design engineering, product development or similar
• Experience in industrial/automotive design
• Good knowledge and experience of use of CAD-systems, CATIA is required.
• Fluent English skills
It is meritorious if you have:
• Experience in working with China
• Experience with working with displays and interaction components (touch-screens, buttons etc)
• Knowledge in German or Chinese
• Experience from project management
• Experience from working in plastic design
• Knowledge in Autodesk Alias or ICEM surf
