Arbetsbeskrivning

The EuroCC National Competence Center Sweden (ENCCS) is looking for a researcher with a background in natural sciences or data science / machine learning and extensive experience in high performance computing (HPC).

ENCCS is a national competence center in HPC, funded by the Swedish Research Council, Vinnova and the EuroHPC JU via the EuroCC project - a network of European national competence centers in HPC. ENCCS is hosted jointly by RISE and Linköping University.

EuroHPC JU is a multi-billion Euro joint undertaking which enables participating countries to coordinate their efforts and share resources in order to build a world-class supercomputing infrastructure and a competitive innovation ecosystem in supercomputing technologies, applications, and skills in Europe.

ENCCS provides a range of services tailored to the national needs of industry, academia, and public administration in Sweden. The aim is to support and further enhance national strengths in high-performance computing (HPC), high-performance data analytics (HPDA), and artificial intelligence (AI). - Assist key user communities in enabling applications on (pre)exa-scale resources.
- Advise users on how to achieve scaling and performance for scientific problems on EuroHPC resources.
- Guide new industrial users in using HPC.
- Support new AI/data analytics applications. Provide training and skill development nationally and throughout Europe.

About the role
You will be working with an agile team of experts with diverse backgrounds and a shared passion for bringing the benefits of HPC to new user groups through teaching and mentoring, awareness creation, consulting and hands-on software support. Specifically, the work includes supporting users in moving to (pre)exa-scale EuroHPC systems, porting and/or optimizing scientific software for HPC in pilot projects as well as teaching workshops and developing training material. The researcher will also contribute to the development and implementation of the ENCCS strategy, including the development of the service portfolio, establishing collaborations and identifying new user communities.

Please note that this position may mean that a security clearance is required, either later in this process or in the future.

About you

- A PhD in natural sciences, data science, machine learning or related areas.
- Experience in software development for HPC systems.
- Experience with GPU programming.
- Excellent communication skills in English and (preferably) Swedish.
- Strong communication and team working skills. Teaching experience is a plus.
