HSE Specialist/Engineer

In your role as Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Specialist/Engineer you will have a key function in the HSE organization, ensuring compliance and proactively develop the HSE-work at the production site. For this position, it is important that you have a documented operational experience within health, safety, environment and risk management and have an understanding for the requirements put on a complex situation. Our organization values great self-discipline and a natural talent to make things happen.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation for the manufacturing site, including setting up necessary systems and procedures in accordance with the requirements of ISO 45001 and internal standards
- Implementation of routines and processes
- Super user in our system for accidents and incidents including training colleagues in the system
- Follow up on HSE-performance based on data from the system

Train colleagues in areas such as risk assessments, PPE, chemicals and waste management

Identifying gaps when present and ensuring that action plans is both developed and executed on time.


We believe that you have:

- University (or advanced) degree within health, safety and environmental engineering, risk management, work environment or similar
- Broad working experience within the environmental field IN SWEDEN (this is a must-have), and good working knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation
- 2+ years of working experience in manufacturing, construction, or chemical industry.
- Experience working with certified management systems, for example ISO 45001, OHSAS18001, ISO 14011 or similar.
- Excellent English, written and oral skills
- Working business-level reading, writing, and speaking proficiency in Swedish

Together, we have formed a joint venture, NOVO Energy, to power the next generation of pure electric Volvo and Polestar cars.

Our Gigafactory in Gothenburg will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe, with a potential annual cell production capacity of up to 50 gigawatt hours (GWh) - thereby enabling a supply of batteries for approximately half a million Volvo and Polestar cars per year. Our state-of-the-art R&D facility will gather leading expertise from all over the world, to create the next generation battery cells.
