Diakonia is a Swedish non-profit organization for international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. Diakonia supports over 350 partner organisations in 26 countries – in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Diakonia operates on feminist principles and a human rights-based approach. Since the beginning of 2021 Diakonia is working with a new strategy, containing four movements that will lead to an interesting and exciting journey for the organization. Role & responsibilities:
As Humanitarian Advisor you will take a global role in developing Diakonia’s humanitarian work. You are part of the International Program Department’s team of global advisors and report to the Deputy Director. You will work closely with colleagues in Diakonia’s regional and country offices, as well as with partners, donors and networks. Your responsibilities include:
• Provide technical guidance in developing humanitarian projects and programmes.
• Facilitate learning, experience-sharing and synergies globally.
• Develop humanitarian donor relations and fundraising.
• Develop Diakonia’s work on triple nexus and resilience.
• Manage Diakonia’s humanitarian project fund.
Experience & qualifications:
We are looking for a solution-oriented and creative person, with an analytical mind and the ability to communicate effectively. You value working in teams and are flexible and responsible. You also have:
• University degree related to humanitarian assistance or relevant area.
• Deep knowledge in humanitarian program design and management, including humanitarian accountability.
• Experience in humanitarian work in collaboration with civil society organizations and networks.
• Experience in gender, environmental and conflict mainstreaming in humanitarian interventions.
• Life experience or international posting in Diakonia countries or similar context.
• Proficiency in English, speaking and writing.
This is a plus:
• Experience in working with prevention of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse; and/or child safeguarding.
• Experience in crisis management such as climate-related disasters and/or violent conflicts.
• Experience in humanitarian advocacy work.
• Proficiency in Swedish, Spanish, French, Arabic and/or Portuguese.
