Our division Propulsion & Controls (PPC) is responsible for delivering propulsion and control systems in the front edge of technology to a worldwide market.
The HW Component Engineer position is organized in the Center of Excellence Electronics (CoE Electronics) within the Propulsion & Controls division (PPC) which is responsible for the electronics (hardware and firmware) in our products such as I/O units and computer devices controlling the propulsion system and the train control and management system (TCMS) on the train. At the CoE Electronics we work with robust, high-performance industrial electronics, designed to meet increasing performance requirements and to withstand the harsh environment on trains where we rely on high EMC integrity.
Purpose of the job
Placed in Västerås you will work to preventively supervise the status of our component library for PCB assembly to ensure proactive control of obsolescence risks, to perform DfE (Design for Environment) analyses with respect to prohibited and restricted substances, and to support with reliability analyses (MTBF). It is also a key objective of the Component Engineer to interact with and monitor the performance of our electronics manufacturing services (EMS) suppliers, especially with respect to their component qualification criteria, soldering and assembly processes. Part of the job is also the interaction with our component suppliers.?
Key responsibilities
- Actively monitor and report obsolescence on PCBA components and affected hardware products to product owners.
- Maintain the Approved Manufacturer?s List (AML) for all hardware products under CoE Electronics.
- Have an open line communication with the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and report any PCBA component related issues to the product owners.
- Interact, monitor and report the performance of the EMSs to the product owners.
- Support the electronics development projects with PCBA component knowledge and reliability figures.
- Apply and improve defined development processes and tools.
- Support the Quality Management during First Article Inspections.
- Support with: Component costs; Datasheets; PCBA component suggestions; Supplier selections and sourcing activities.
Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor or Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- You have 3-5 years of experience working with PCB component engineering and/or hardware design.
- You have a good understanding of data sheets and circuit diagrams.
- You have experience of working with industrial electronics, preferably also from PCBA manufacturing.
- You are capable of managing standardization across product families.
- You enjoy teamwork, you share your knowledge and you are motivated by problem solving.
- You have strong communication skills, high drive, flexibility and creativity.
- You speak and write fluent English, Swedish is preferable
