HW Design Engineer (m/f)

Our division Propulsion & Controls (PPC) is responsible for delivering propulsion and control systems in the front edge of technology to a worldwide market. Our systems are the heart, the brain and the muscles of the train.
The HW Design Engineer position is organized in the Center of Excellence Electronics (CoE Electronics) within the Propulsion & Controls division (PPC) which is responsible for the electronics (hardware and firmware) in our products such as I/O units and computer devices controlling the propulsion system and the train control and management system (TCMS) on the train. At the CoE Electronics we work with robust, high-performance industrial electronics, designed to meet increasing performance requirements and to withstand the harsh environment on trains where we rely on high EMC integrity.
Purpose of the job
Placed in Västerås you will design, develop and maintain both hardware and firmware. Main technical aspects of the job are: analogue and digital electronic design, CAD (schematics and PCB) and VHDL programming. Mechanical design work and verification activities such as measurements and simulations are also part of the job.
As Design Engineer you will take part in development projects and be responsible for requirements, specification, architecture, implementation and verification of electronics. You will also support in problem solving of the trains in operation as well as be a part of the management responsibility of our electronics products. To succeed in this role you need to have practical experience of hardware design and preferably also VHDL design. Experience from working with safety related and robust designs is desirable as well as practical experience from working with product testing and quality assurance. In this role you will be cooperating with colleagues all over the world so we expect you to have a willingness to support others and to share your knowledge.

Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor or Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- You have +5 years of experience working with hardware design
- You have experience of analogue and digital electronic designs, preferably also VHDL programming experience (FPGAs and CPLDs)
- You have experience working with CAD (circuit diagram and PCB design) and simulation tools (spice tools)
- You have experience of working with industrial electronics
- You enjoy teamwork, you share your knowledge and you are motivated by problem solving
- You have high drive, flexibility and inventiveness
- You speak and write fluent English, Swedish is desirable
