Math & Science Teacher for year 7–8/Lärare i matematik och naturkunskap för årskurs 7–8 IES Halmstad

The position

Are you passionate about math and science and would thrive in an international environment? We are looking for a certified mathematics and science teacher that will teach students in year 7–8 (aged 13-15).

You will be joining an experienced and creative team and will have responsibility for your own planning. We work closely in our departments with subject development and cross curriculum themes, so we are looking for a creative team player wanting to be part of our collegial sharing approach for quality learning at our school. 

These subjects are taught in English or bilingually using Swedish. The position is a full-time, fixed term contract for the school year 2020/2021 and is to commence as soon as possible and end on June 15th, 2021. For the right candidate, it is possible that the employment could be renewed after that.

Who are you?

You are a certified teacher, or will be once the job starts. You have extraordinary commitment and drive, you are a role model for your students and you are a clear leader who provides security. You get involved with the students and in their goals through a coaching approach. As a person you are creative and open to new ideas and viewpoints. You are structured, loyal, responsive and have a high sense of responsibility.

Fluency in English is an advantage but not a must.

Duties and responsibilities

- To create the necessary conditions for students to acquire knowledge and achieve individual goals.
- To develop students' knowledge and skills with the curriculum and syllabi founded by clear criteria, goals and feedback.
- To act as a role model and to provide security, order and a calm working atmosphere both inside and outside the classroom.
- As a teacher you will act as a mentor for around 16 students.

The location

Internationella Engelska Skolan Halmstad, Sweden, is a popular school for students aged 10–16 within the expanding IES organisation of independent bilingual schools in Sweden. Our school follows the Swedish National Curriculum teaching in both English and Swedish, but at the same time incorporates Swedish culture and traditions. The school is located in Halmstad in the Swedish west coast area, with easy access to the town centre, and from here you can easily go to both Gothenburg and Copenhagen in just a few hours.
