Reference number: 355 JOB DESCRIPTIONS The Core Technologies team is responsible for the long-term technology agenda within the strategic areas Vision, Imaging and System. We perform technology roadmapping; execute the roadmap by developing technologies and assist toward platform integration of technologies. We also act as a competence centre within Axis with regard to the core competence areas. In addition to this we define test methods and standards to be used by Axis as a whole.[ As our new Image Optics Engineer you will be part of the Imaging competence area within the Core Technologies team. Specifically, you will work closely with the engineers responsible for optics technologies today and thus strengthen our ability to develop competitive surveillance cameras by help ensuring an optimal match between optics-, sensor- and image processing technologies. This will involve monitoring, testing and qualification of lenses as well as technologies related to mechanical solutions in the optics domain. Your responsibilities will include: * Monitor and scout for manufacturers within optics and optomechanics * Assist in technical evaluation of manufacturers * Drive and maintain manufacturer relations * Develop methods, processes and tools within the optics evaluation domain * Write documentation and perform internal education in the optics domain * Participate in technology roadmapping process JOB QUALIFICATIONS To be successful we believe you have a background within the optical design area or mechanical engineering. You have a passion for optics and you want to understand not only lens design issues, but also how mechanical design parameters affect optical performance both within the lens itself and in relation to the rest of the system such as e.g. sensors and overall thermal design. Furthermore, you want to put your knowledge in context with surveillance use cases. In addition, you are enthusiastic about sharing your knowledge with others and thus building knowledge in the organization. You are also a social person and interested in building and driving relations with subcontractors.[[ Apart from the above you have the following qualifications: * Engineering/Technical Masters degree or equivalent * Ability to drive and take initiative is central * Keen interest in optics and associated technologies including mechanical aspects required * Experience of subcontractor contacts and procurement within the optics domain is highly valued * You must be interested in relating optics parameters to other parts of the imaging system, such as sensors and image processing * High-level programming skills in e.g. Matlab or C++.
