Role overview
We are looking for a skilled patent attorney to join the IP team at Heart! We are pioneering a new industry in Sweden, together with a wide range of international suppliers, customers, and other partners. Your role will be to handle IP activities within Heart, in close collaboration with our Head of IP and other relevant teams within Heart. This will call upon your proven ability to communicate with our engineering teams, manage intellectual property rights from conception to granted rights. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience involving drafting, and prosecuting patent applications in SE, PCT, EPO and US; patent related aviation industry experience is also preferred.
You will also have the opportunity to develop and execute internal IP training programs to build knowledge of Intellectual Property within Heart. As a lean, nimble team within a fast-growing startup, we are called on to support a wide range of operational and technical areas within the company. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of International and European Patent Law, but the curiosity and drive to take on new issues and challenges, too. You’ll be energized by the opportunity to contribute to Heart’s success across multiple parts of our business.
Your work will consist of, but is not limited to:

Drafting and reviewing patent applications in English

Conducting searches (e.g. novelty searches, landscaping, FTO) in our IP search tool and to recommend actions to our internal IP council

Help developing and conducting internal IP training sessions in English for the engineering teams to increase knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights

Organizing and performing workshops to identify possible innovations within internal projects as well as external projects where Heart participates

Qualifications & Experience

Degree of Master of Science in Sweden or its foreign equivalent

At least 5 years of relevant experience from a reputable patent law firm

Extensive experience reviewing, drafting, and prosecuting patent applications at European Patent Office

Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks and see them through to completion

Highly organized and result-driven

Exceptionally good communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Swedish is a plus

The ideal candidate would have

At least partially qualified European Patent Attorney, having passed one or more parts of the EQE (European Qualification Examination)

In-house experience in a technology or industrial company (software related industry preferred)
