INCF (International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility) is an international organization launched in 2005, following a proposal from the Global Science Forum of the OECD to establish international coordination and collaborative informatics infrastructure for neuroscience.

The INCF international network currently spans North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. INCF fosters the global digital interconnectivity of data, methods and people engaged in brain research to catalyze insights into brain function in health and disease. The Secretariat is located at the Karolinska institutet, Stockholm.

We are looking for a highly organized, results-oriented and experienced co-Executive Director with special responsibility for Science and Training. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in leading a scientific non-profit organization, have knowledge of current trends and issues facing both the neuroinformatics and neuroscience communities, experience with grant writing, as well as experience with financial tenets of a non‐profit organization. The qualified candidate will be sufficiently entrepreneurial to identify, evaluate, and seize upon various ideas to move INCF forward in a changing global environment. Excellent communication, strategic management, and operational skills are essential to this position. The co-Executive Director will report to the core leadership of INCF and work in close interaction with the elected Officers, Executive Committee, and Governing Councils to fulfil the organization’s mission, lead scientific staff in the execution of these goals, while cultivating relationships with members and external partners. The co-Executive Director must understand the needs of diverse and multidisciplinary audiences and possess a high‐level of cultural competences. The position requires ability to regularly work flexibly and at unsociable hours. Candidates must be willing to travel approximately 30%. Area of responsibilities/duties
- Define, implement, and monitor, scientific goals of the organization
- Oversight over scientific program of the organization
- Oversight over organization’s training and education program
- Represent the organization in external initiatives               
- Financial management of the organization
- Legal compliance
- Grant writing
- Networking and community outreach

Required skills and experience
- English language fluency, written and spoken
- PhD in neuroscience or neuroinformatics (min. 10 years since graduation)
- MBA or equivalent degree (min. 5 years of experience)
- Knowledge of Swedish employment laws and regulations
- Documented multi-year experience and proven track record in: - ○ Business acumen and financial management experience
- ○ International nonprofit organization management
- ○ Managing collaborative international projects and multidisciplinary teams
- ○ Ontology engineering
- ○ Data and metadata standards development
- ○ Developing and implementing training courses and scientific workshops



The successful candidate should also have

- Knowledge of current trends and issues facing the international scientific community
- Knowledge of the scientific publishing process and landscape
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptionally strong communication skills
- A collaborative decision‐making style, with a commitment to supporting and improving organizational governance structures and roles
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
- Experience with open software development practices

The co-Executive Director shall be based in Stockholm, Sweden.
