Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Scania´s department for Product and Interaction Design performs a central role in the creation and communication of Scania´s transformation journey, driving the shift. By defining the product expression and customer experience, we keep the current platform up to date, whilst also staking out the future for our vehicles and services. With a broad portfolio of projects to a more sustainable and digital future, we are now expanding and looking for an industrial design resource consultant with depth in Colour and Material design to strengthen our team.
In your role as a C&T designer, you will be instrumental in creating sustainable, premium product experiences for the future, adapted to the customer and context, that will make a difference for both people and planet. You will work with exterior and interior parts and focus on truck applications with emerging markets demands. Also you will take part in a wide variety of advanced design projects, and might as well be involved in other products related to our services and future scenarios of transportation systems, from early concepts to the final stages of industrialization. The position is based at Scania I.D’s facilities in Södertälje, Sweden.
Main responsibilities
You will, within the area of color and trim, develop and deliver outstanding design, supporting project goals and aligned with and evolving the Scania I.D (Industrial Design) Strategy. The role requires both creating and visualizing design solutions of your own, as well as implementing existing specifications by leading and guiding external partners and suppliers. In our efficient and relatively compact design studio environment you will be taking part in an integrated product development process that involves collaboration with cross functional teams, stake holders and suppliers to define criteria/specifications, develop product concepts through creative ideation and iteration, prototypes and solutions from first idea all the way to production.
Qualifications and experience:
We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:
• A master’s degree in Industrial Design/Automotive Design/Interior Design (or equivalent).
• Highly developed visual communication skills, for concept sketches and mood board creation etc. This requires knowledge in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite. 3D tools knowledge is meritorious.
• Solid Color & Trim professional work experience with multiple high-level projects.
• Experience from the automotive industry is considered a necessity, and previous Scania knowledge is meritorious.
• Deep understanding and knowledge of C&T design as a tool for sustainable development, as well as supporting brand and business strategies.
• Excellent skills in both written and spoken English.
