Join us as an Industrial Phd for the global R&D and Industrialization site in Västerås, Sweden.
PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE
Be part of our team and take this unique growth opportunity and bring your contribution to smart, green and safe mobility while working with high tech products. Your research will focus on the cross-functional, human and team centric implementation of digitalized tools and methods in product development and industrialization in global and local environments. By synthesizing the most recent research findings on how digitally enhanced engineering and industrialization processes have been implemented, your goal will be to develop and verify the most effective approaches for the case in question (i.e considering the latest knowledge on lean, agile, modularization and other). The research will also establish roadmaps for the future evolution of practices and tools. You will also be responsible for shortening the development and improving the product quality by automating repetitive time-consuming engineering tasks. You will be frequently interacting with international researchers as well as peers in the global ALSTOM organization.
YOUR ROLE
Conduct state of the art survey on existing and relevant digitalization implementations
Map current development and industrialization practices and workflows at ALSTOM, determining pain points and areas with strong improvement potential through digitalization
Establish a detailed understanding of ALSTOM’s new suite of PLM, engineering and industrialization tools
Propose and develop new product development and industrialization practices and processes with a cross functional, human and team centric perspective
Pilot, verify and improve the proposed processes
Evaluate overall impact vis-à-vis ALSTOM’s objectives
Act as link between academia and industry, requires knowledge of ALSTOM products and ways of working
Undergo a PhD program within the IndTech research academy at Mälardalen University
Set up and thoroughly follow a study plan with results beneficial to ALSTOM
Publish findings in international workshops, conferences, and journals
Participate in network activities
YOUR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial economics, industrial information systems, mechanical or electrical engineering
In this position you will need to develop product industrialization competencies and a basic technical understanding of complex railway propulsion products
An analytical and systematic frame of mind with the capacity to grasp the “big picture” as well as technical details
A combination of curiosity, creativity and the ability to get things done
Proficiency in comprehending and formulating research articles and technical documentation
You thrive in a team environment with a dedication to share what you know to help your team grow, all bolstered by excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Fluent in English and preferably in Swedish.
