Job Description


This industrial PhD work, Volvo GTT employment and task aims primarily at developing a modelling platform that can explore future fuel cell system balance of plant components for improved efficiency and performance at the vehicle level for a heavy duty trucks application, focused on topics such as:
Develop a generic modular complete fuel cell system model
Adopt and/or develop models for fuel cell stack and relevant system components
Verify models with test data; propose and take part in relevant experimental work
Analyze the fuel cell system model concept in a context of complete fuel cell vehicle topologies and applications.
Development and conclude in both internal and external reports and publications

As an industrial PhD student, you will be part of the Chalmers PhD student program at the department of Mechanics and Maritime Sciences. In the work, you will utilize both the Volvo development as well as Chalmers’s research network.


Who are you?


You are a person with an interest to make an PhD academic exam, with the considerable effort that that will take. You enjoy cooperating in a team and you have good communication and collaboration skills, both also with an ability to work independently with your research. You are skilled in analytical tool, such as e.g. Matlab/Simulink/Phyton, CFD etc, with a basic education in thermodynamics and energy conversion technologies, and preferable some experience from the vehicle industry. With your analytical side and your sense of details you will find new concepts results to reach new concept of products for heavy duty applications.
A positive mindset and “we-can-do-it attitude” characterizes your personal profile. You are confident in driving complex topics inside as well as outside your own organization. You possess very good communication skills, and you are comfortable in guiding the organization to make difficult decisions in complex matters.
