About this opportunity:
At the device communication research organization within Ericsson in Lund we develop new concepts and solutions for wireless communication technologies towards 6G. We are now looking for a Researcher to join the device communication research team at Ericsson Research as an industrial PhD within a Marie Curie Industrial Doctoral Network called “MiFuture”, for a PhD degree by Lund University. The position is targeted to perform research on the topic of UE aspects of ultra massive MIMO.
More info about Marie Curie doctoral networks: Doctoral Networks - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (europa.eu)
More information about this doctoral network: MSCA MiFuture (uc3m.es)
The supervisory team for the industrial PhD position consists of:
Prof. Liang Liu, Lund University
Dr. Henrik Sjöland, Ericsson
What you will do:
• Analyzing multi-antenna solutions for ultra massive MIMO within wireless devices (UE), evaluating antenna configurations and signal processing requirements for different device form factors. Both communication and sensing use cases will be studied.
• Quantifying the potential benefits of using multiple antennas in an ultra massive MIMO UE operating at carrier frequencies up to the mmW range.
• Developing efficient signaling and signal processing methods with a minimum of power consumption and signaling overhead.
• Developing novel concepts, solutions, and algorithms with emphasis on communication and environment awareness technologies for mobile devices and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
The skills you bring:
• University master’s degree and be eligible to enroll in a PhD program.
• Been a resident or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in another EU country than Sweden at least 24 months of the last 36 months.
• Experience from wireless communication algorithms, hardware, or protocols.
• Experience in simulation or other modeling tools and methodologies.
• Solid analytical skills and ability to acquire new knowledge,
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to collaborate, initiate actions, define research studies, and be part of creating 6G
Specific experience within one or more of the following areas are meriting
• Mobile device hardware, specifically antenna design
• Hands on building demos and proof of concepts including e.g. SW and HW development kits e.g. based on Raspberry Pi, Arduino or similar
• A proven track record of innovations with granted patent applications
Location: Lund, Sweden
Preferred Starting Date: 1st December 2024
Last Day to Apply: 23rd October 2024
Applications should include a CV and a cover letter. Candidates are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible.
