Industrial PhD Student

Electrical Propulsion Systems (EPS) is a new and expansive part within R&D where Electric Drive and Power Electronics with its El mashines is key to deliver competetive electrical propulsion systems. The team are skilled, innovative and have a high passion of the area.
The main aim of the project is to develop the next generation of permanent magnet traction machines, develop technical know-how with the purpose of supporting design, testing and manufacturing, exploring novel techniques, materials, geometries, etc. This is to be achieved by state-of-the art review and investigations, followed by theoretical modelling both an analytical level as well as performing numerical FEM simulations. Various material choices and geometry investigation follows, but also development of theory as well as including manufacturing aspects. Towards the second half of the project a prototype is to be built and the theoretical findings are to be verified towards measurements.
We are looking for a motivated Industrial Phd Student, who is able to work independently as well as to communicate well with the surrounding environment. Good command of English orally and in writing is required to publish and present results at international conferences and in international journals. The position also include departmental work up to 10 %, apart from the research task, for instance teaching.

* Representative publications or technical reports: Up to 2 documents, no longer than 10 pages each. For longer documents (e.g. theses), please provide a summary (abstract) and a web link to the full text.
* Letters of recommendation or contact information for two reference persons
Required qualifications
* Master's degree or equivalent in Electric Power Engineering or Engineering Physics.
* Experience in electromagnetic design, preferably the design of electrical machines
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
* Experience of Ansys Maxwell is meritorious. Experimental experience in this area is of a great advantage
* Publication record is meritorious
* Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage. If the student is not familiar with Swedish, the student is expected to pick up the language within two years
