Generally the purpose is to provide frontline scientific information support to the pharmaceutical research community.This will be done by utilising a wide range of online published and in-house information resources and analysis tools to assist scientists with the provision of decision ready information. Accountabilities: .Provide a comprehensive literature, patent and competitor information management service .Drug discovery project team decision support to determine and satisfy information needs, including commentary and analysis as appropriate and requested .Deliver current awareness alerting services using both online and in-house published information resources and exploiting the available technology to facilitate access and usage of information .Develop expert knowledge of electronic databases and command language of multiple online vendors .Awareness and exploitation of tools used to manage extracted information, post process, and analyze search results Minimum requirements .MSc or PhD in life sciences .ie.biology .Experience of information retrieval via online commercial vendors .Experience of analyzing competitor information .Excellent IT skills Desirable requirements .At least two years experience of the pharmaceutical industry or similar .A diploma in Library and Information Science is an advantage .Experience of using text analytic and visualization tools .A strong understanding of informatics - the use of computer and informational techniques, applied to a range of scientific problems Behaviours and Skills: .Excellent communication skills .Ability to understand the needs of scientists who are going to use the information .Strong analytical skills and an enquiring mind .Strong team working skills and service mind .Ability to work independently and as a global team..
