Are you visioning being an expert in infrastructure engineering in an agile software development context? We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen our Digital plant infrastructure team. We believe that you are a passionate and curious mind that is eager to develop and help us bridge and transform current technology and services solutions. You will be developing our core infrastructure components such as databases, servers, network, storage and connected devices. 

You will join the Volvo Cars Digital Infrastructure team and become a part of our exciting journey towards a product-oriented software company. The team is located in Gothenburg with a special focus on the Torslanda manufacturing plant while having a global manufacturing digital responsibility. You will be part of the journey as we deliver on our company’s vision and scale our services globally. We use modern tools and agile methods to create business value continuously. We ensure high quality, availability and adaptability in our delivery. And of course, we have fun together while doing it!

What you’ll do
In general, the Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for securing operations of our highly available computing platforms, servers, storage area networks, hosting and networks. Infrastructure engineering ensures that the plant IT infrastructure is highly robust, scalable, and efficient to deliver the integrated services underlying the physical environment that supports the processes, physical resources (including facilities, hardware, software, and tools) and people required for developing, integrating, operating, and sustaining IT applications and support services. 

With an always-on mindset you will be assisting departments in the factory (Engineering, Operation & Maintenance) in designing, configuring and managing solutions for their devices, tools and applications, in line with factory and corporate standards. You will also be working closely with the local Factory On-Site team and be supported by global specialists and operations teams. The team is also a key contributor when new technology and solutions are to be implemented in our manufacturing environments.

Do you fit the profile? 
You are an engineer having at least a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience in a relevant field. You should have a general understanding of the pieces of the IT infrastructure and understand how all these things work together to make end user applications work and work well.

You are fluent in Swedish and English, both verbally and written. You have education and preferably some experience in agile development practices and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps or similar. Knowledge of the automotive industry is meritorious.
