Infrastructure Engineer to Avy

Avy is a start-up company with a mission to bridge the gap between property owners and tenants. We do this by providing our digital web and mobile platform and focusing on the end-to-end housing journey; from move-in to move-out, and then again to move-in. With an increased customer focus and a digital interface on our platform, we are both increasing the engagement from tenants, lowering administrative costs, and creating new revenue streams for property owners.

The first product we created was the smooth and 100% digital payment function for all tenants, and this is still our core today. So, while we are active in the prop-tech business, Avy is still fin-tech by heart.

Going forward we are now looking for our first Infrastructure Engineer that will get the opportunity to set the grounds for the future of Avy's technical infrastructure. Your work will be crucial for us in reaching our three main goals; being scalable, reliable, and secure.

About the role

Today Avy is running in a multi-cloud setup (GCP, AWS) where a core part of our platform is being built on Kubernetes. We are using CI/CD, and our Backend platform is based on microservice event-driven architecture, while our Frontend clients are based on React. As part of your day-to-day work, you will mainly design and implement infrastructure in Google Cloud. Your solutions will support our internal business services and enable our payment solutions. It will also allow ingesting large amount of data since you will be in contact with data from several other external providers. Lastly, a part of your job will include working with automated deployment, where you will test and release code multiples times a day, making sure it runs correctly.

Responsibilities

- Focus on scalability, reliability, and most of all security
- Build tools and infrastructure for other teams (API, Mobile, Data)
- Close collaboration with our CTO in technical decision making


Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we see that you have a structured, analytical mindset along with strong communication skills. You are comfortable with a high work pace and enjoy a stable but agile start-up environment. You are also a person who isn’t afraid to take chances even though they might not always succeed. Furthermore, you have the following technical qualifications:

- 3+ years of Infrastructure, Cloud, and DevOps
- Strong Bash or Python scripting skills
- Knowledge of Terraform (IaC)
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with relational databases


It´s also a plus if you have experience in:

- Programming (any language!)
- Writing code for transactional high-intensity, real-time applications
- Event-driven architecture
- Messaging queues
