Infrastructure Solution Designer

We are now looking for two Infrastructure Solution Designers to our team within Vattenfall IT where you will have varied activities and contact areas with different stakeholders within the business. You will support in some key activities but also take own responsibility in decisions and have a big impact in the position.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities
As an IT Infrastructure Solution Designer you are responsible for creating a maintainable technical solution design, by following the reference architecture and security guidelines that are provided by Vattenfall IT.


Designs created by the Infrastructure Solution Designer will cover the full infrastructure overview and describe clients, operating systems, databases, physical and virtual servers, network, middleware, technical interfaces, communication paths, cloud usage, etc.


We believe that you have a broad understanding of IT, have good technical knowledge and will be able to provide technical leadership and valuable input for decisions when required. The position requires a good cooperation and relationship with the Vattenfall IT Architecture and IT Security teams and therefor you might also be requested for reviewing and deciding on other solution designs.

Your key activities as Infrastructure Solution Designer
Implementing the IT Architecture and IT Security recommendations for a solution design and being part of and deep-dive into low-level configurations in the implementation setup phase. You will advise on the non-functional requirements and validate the implementation needed to maintain the system. You will support the project with the system/application health and perform quality checks for stable operations (non-functional requirements; such as monitor the performance/application behavior during load for instance). Other activities:


• Supporting in identifying risks and the mitigations that are required to resolve them
• Being cost aware (total cost) when creating infrastructure solution designs, both from Business as well as IT perspective
• Improving the IT delivery speed by using defined IT infrastructure standards in the designed solutions
• Aligning with IT Architecture and IT Security on the non-standard solution design creation
• Overseeing and actively being involved in the implementation phase, to secure and stabilize the solutions for future operations
• Using the ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to solving broader, project wide issues
• Identifying and suggesting improvements for existing IT services in alignment with the responsible stakeholders


Qualification
We believe that you have a degree in IT or related studies, or you instead also might have an education in IT with several years of practice in a datacenter environment ( e.g. Administration, databases, network, operating systems). You benefit from long term employment in Solution Design as well as experience in living ITIL processes and project management methods. Other qualifications:


• Experience in Service Operations (SLAs) and Infrastructure Design
• Technical expertise in IT infrastructure (Server, Storage, Network, Security, Cloud)
• Strong Project background especially in Operational Handover support
• Solid understanding of IT Security
• Basic knowledge and experience with Azure Cloud
• Highly skilled in Solution Designs for IT Infrastructure and Architecture Document Review processes
• Strong knowledge in ITIL & ITSM processes
• Experience in Application Operations is a pre
