About us
Climate change is the ultimate safety test. Therefore, we at Volvo Cars are committed to going fully electric by 2030 and mastering high voltage batteries is one of the keys to success!
The role as Innovation Leader for High Voltage Batteries within the Propulsion Innovation Lab is a great opportunity to take the step into our Strategy & Innovation department and contribute to future technology and business direction.
The Propulsion Innovation Lab is a team which supports our ambition to lead in sustainable electric propulsion. The need to address scientific developments, low maturity technologies and early-stage concepts is crucial – the Propulsion Innovation Lab was built as a dedicated and cross-functional core team to initiate, stimulate, and support innovative projects. Here ideas can crystallize into concepts.

As such you lead technology exploration, are an active part in evaluating new concepts and technologies, you interact with our subject matter experts, the venture capital team as well as senior management – and you feel comfortable in all those environments.
Further, you support early-stage advanced engineering projects within our team with your expertise. The ability to support also in fields that might be new to you is essential, our team deals with a lot of unknowns and tasks and direction will not always be clear; you can manage this ambiguity and bring structure and clarity to your own work.
You have…
* MSc or preferably PhD in relevant field
* Deep understanding of battery technologies, from cell to system
* Outstanding collaboration capabilities and strong leadership skills
* Genuine interest in electric cars, sustainability, and future tech
