ESS is now looking for an Instrument & Control (I&C) Technician for the Radiation Protection (RP) group as part of the Environment, Safety, Health & Security (ESH&Q) unit.

At ESS the Radiation Protection group consists of radiation protection experts, the operational radiation protection team and radiation protection services including radioactive waste management. The radiation protection services team has as one of its responsibilities, the Radiological and Environmental Monitoring System (REMS).

Job description

As part of the RP group, you main task will be maintenance of the Radiological and Environmental Monitoring System (REMS). In addition to this, you will also support the operational RP group by performing surveys and interventions.

As an I&C Technician, you will:


• Use the ESS maintenance management tool (EAM), establish preventative maintenance schedules for all new equipment along with maintenance & operations documentation and user guides.
• Manage the maintenance & operations of existing systems, carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on them, suggesting improvements and ensuring all documentation is up to date.
• Make necessary risk assessments for the maintenance tasks.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new monitoring systems.
• Assist the operational radiation protection team with surveys and interventions.

Qualifications & Competencies

You have a well-developed ability to listen, consult others and to communicate proactively with a high level of integrity.


• Higher technical diploma in one of the following fields; instrumentation, control systems, electro-mechanical or electro-technical engineering and maintenance.
• Proven experience in maintenance and operations, in one of the previous fields, with a fundamental understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or similar tools.
• Knowledge of radiation protection, radiation monitoring instrumentation and use of radioactive sources would be an advantage
• Knowledge of installation and commissioning or project environments would be an asset.

Duration & Location
The position is a permanent position. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
