Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons and operates the brightest neutron source in the world. The ILL's Reactor Division, whose role is to produce the neutrons needed to supply the ILL's scientific instruments, is responsible for operating all the technical installations associated with the reactor. Instrumentation and Control Technician·
Duties:
You will join the group responsible for the maintenance of the instrumentation and control systems of the High-Flux Reactor, where your main duties will be to:
- provide preventive and corrective maintenance of the reactor control and emergency shutdown systems
- perform the periodic testing of the following measuring channels: thermodynamics, neutron flux, radiation protection and environmental monitoring
- design and implement modifications to instrumentation and control systems and measuring channels
- draft the specifications for the work to be performed, monitor subcontractors, prepare and conduct tests, and update documentation
- report on activities.
Qualifications and experience:
- You have a Level 5 (HND, foundation degree or equivalent) or Level 6 (apprenticeship degree or equivalent) qualification in electrical/electronic engineering; you are interested in working in the nuclear sector as well as in Quality Assurance activities (IMS).
- You must be qualified to work on low-voltage electrical installations ('Habilitation Électrique' B2V BR as per NF C18-510).
- You have a "hands-on", methodical and meticulous approach to your work and possess good writing skills. You have a strong service-oriented attitude and are able to work independently or as part of a team while complying with regulatory requirements.
Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
