The position is within Group Insurance that is a function at the Volvo Group Headquarters, located in Gothenburg. Our department focus is to provide service to the Volvo Group with Insurance Programs primarily in the non-life insurance sector. This is assured through the use of the in-house captive company, Volvo Group Insurance (VGI). VGI is today one of Sweden’s largest captives with a premium income of 314 MSEK.
About Volvo Group Insurance
At Volvo Group Insurance our key responsibility is to purchase and administer the Groups world-wide Insurance programs, which in short means terms, wordings and premiums are negotiated centrally. Additionally, various systems and methods are used for premium allocation/invoicing dependent the type of risks. The claims handling process is another important task for the function, in order to serve the Group. Volvo Group Insurance also has the responsibility to operate the Groups state-of-the-art in-house Captive Insurance / Reinsurance program, which is designed to reduce cost for the Group and improve the insurance cover. Close co-operation with other Business Areas and functions within the Group is a natural part of daily work. We are a small team consisting of four team members.
The following insurance programs are handled through Group Insurance:
Property damage
Business interruption
General and product liability
Business travel
Marin Cargo
Environmental impairment liability insurance
Financial lines
Main responsibilities
Your main responsibility is to manage and structure global insurance programs for the Volvo Group. You are the Group’s natural contact person and expert for the specific line of business. Another key area includes co-ordination of the programs with our appointed brokers and insurers. In the renewal process you are responsible to make sure that the Group gets optimal insurance cover at the best cost. An important part of the responsibility is to be up to date with the insurance offerings and to develop the Group’s insurance programs as the Group develops and transforms.
You will also assist the operations with large and complex claims to make the claims process more efficient. The responsibility also includes to assure the quality of administrative procedures relating to premium distribution, claims reporting and insurance documentation. You will also be responsible to develop reinsurance procedures involving the captive.
Who are we looking for?
You have an academic degree and hold a Master of Science in Engineering/Law/Master of Business Administration or similar. To be successful in this position, you need a broad and deep knowledge of non-life insurance including a well-established personal network in the insurance industry. Experience from working with global insurance programs involving captive arrangements are meriting. You also possess a highly developed ability to work within a large international group. Communication skills are very important as you will have a lot of interaction with the operations as well as the insurance community on a global basis. Therefore, excellent skills in English is required. It is also important that you can lead the digitalization and efficiency work within the insurance processes.
As a person, you are business-minded and customer focused. You are self-motivated, proactive and a strong team-player. Interpersonal skills combined with a strong analytical and target orientation will lead you to develop efficient insurance solutions for the group. Networking capabilities ensures that you have a relevant and strong network in the industry.
