The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Design Integration Group Leader in Integration & Design Support division.
Description of directorate/division
The Engineering and Integration Support Division is part of the ESS Machine Directorate with the following responsibilities: ?System owner of the integrated 3D Master model, ESS Plant Layout and its integration, configuration and conformity control.
To provide the ESS project with sufficient resources, including competence and relevant processes, methods and tools and see to that the organization's processes, methods and standards are adhered to.
The division develops processes, methods and tools within Survey, Alignment & Metrology, advice engineering groups on design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of equipment stands and support systems, monument system and other alignment systems.
The division is responsible of the management of the Product Lifecycle Management system as well as to perform support, training and methods for the ESS projects, internally and towards collaborating partners.
Description of main responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a smooth mechanical integration process at ESS.
• Develop and maintain the 3D Master Model of the integrated ESS Baseline, identify and set associated rules, norms & standards. After release, put needed documentation and data related to the 3D master model under configuration control.
• Communication between the different projects relating to the baseline and base-line changes, affecting the delivery of the ESS project.
• Perform configuration and conformity control between the 3D master model and the real facility.
• Control and review installation schedule between the various projects.
• Act as an interface with each responsible project having integration or installation activities to ensure they are defined and executed in a smooth and well-organized process.
• Interface management.
Qualifications:
Master in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Expert level, minium 10 years of integration management on a similar role for a large-scale facility, preferable greenfield project.
Extensive experience of cross-functional work and coordination between different expertises and compentences within Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/HVAC/Control-system etc.
Extensive design/engineering experience within one or more technical areas.
Interface management and good configuration control management is essential for this position.
The successful candidate should have a background in mechanical, oil and gas-industry, research faciltities or nuclear plant and have extensive experience within coordination of design integration, completion of design integration tasks and installation.
Engineering management experience, preferably in the field of neutrons, accelerators or nuclear facilities is an advantage.
Skilled and trustworthy communicator with the ability to establish and facilitate good cooperation and communication.
Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in interactions with internal and external contacts.
Decision making is natural for the candidate and shall be able to take needed actions to develop and secure a smooth and well-established Integration process at ESS.
Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite.
