Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics
The Department of Animal Breeding & Genetics (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU) is based at Ultuna Campus, Uppsala, and has about 60 employees. Our vision is "Better use of genetic resources". We conduct research in molecular, quantitative and applied genetics as well as bioinformatics for a variety of animal species in both agricultural, sports and companion animals. We also contribute to several educational programs at SLU and provide international genetic breeding evaluation for cattle through the Interbull Centre. The Interbull Centre is a section of the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics. Through a truly international collaboration, the Interbull Centre supports the dairy industry on five continents with accurate genetic information on bulls of the major dairy breeds for use by importers and exporters, thereby helping farmers to select the best genetics for their circumstances.
Now the Interbull Centre is looking for an administrator to help with administrative and organisational tasks.
Job description:
To support the Interbull Canter’s director, team, and Interbull steering committee with administrative and organisational services such as meeting notes at board meetings, preparation of both internal and external documents, coordinating meetings and planning of administrative flows. Furthermore, as administrative and organisational support, you help plan trips and carry out travel bookings for employees and potential guests and plan conferences, and annual meetings and arrange meetings for international stakeholders and teleconferences for the Interbull team. You are also expected to prepare templates, and compile agendas, minutes and other administrative documents for the Interbull Centre and its external committees. Other administrative and organisational tasks may occur.
The role includes a lot of international contacts and we work across several time zones, which can make meeting booking complex. It is important that you thrive in an outgoing role where most of all communication takes place in English, and that you enjoy working with planning and organizing large and small meetings. You need to handle a large flow of information, maintain confidentiality and discretion, provide a professional approach and make informed decisions based on policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
In order to succeed in the work, you need to
• Have computer skills with very good knowledge of Windows systems, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
• Be fluent in both spoken and written English, with strong attention to detail, spelling and proofreading
• Have at least a high school diploma
• Have at least 2 years of work experience in similar administrative work. The experience must be documented with e.g. work certificate or equivalent certification as a reference
• Be communicative and with great organizational ability
• Work on multiple tasks in parallel
• Work proactively to meet your and your team´s deadlines
• Be able to follow the guidelines and policies
Meritorious:
• Knowledge of the management and use of marketing and their basics.
• Experience in editing and maintaining websites and wiki pages.
• Experience in marketing or other relevant industry experience.
• Good knowledge of Swedish.
• Very great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
