Individuals that challenge the way we think, lead us down new paths and contribute to solving the biggest challenge of humankind – climate change. Is this you?
Become one of our 30 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meet-ups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Your role as a Trainee - Policy advisor
Public and Regulatory Affairs (PRA) is part of Communications and our role is to ensure a regulatory framework that supports Vattenfall’s business and our strategy to enable fossil-free living withing one generation. We build relations with external stakeholders, we assess risks and influence policies.
You will report to the head of unit at PRA Sweden and will interact with Vattenfall’s different Business Areas (incl top management) as well as colleagues at Communications and external stakeholders such as politicians, authorities and NGO’s. You will be part of a Swedish team, but you will work in an international environment and have a lot of contacts with colleagues from the other markets. The Swedish team consists of 8 Policy advisors with different educational backgrounds and experience from everything from politics to the energy sector. We all share a deep interest in politics and energy policy.
You will work closely together with our business in order to identify what policy is to be influenced in order for Vattenfall to achieve its targets, meet external stakeholders and influence the energy and climate policy through clear and transparent messages. You will also contribute to developing Vattenfall’s positions and consultation responses

As a Trainee - Policy advisor you recognize yourself in the following:
University degree. For example: Political science, Law, Economics, Business, Engineering
Fluent in English and Swedish, both written and spoken
Skills in Microsoft Office
Have a deep interest in politics and energy policy’s.
You have a great analytical mindset, a combination of understanding stakeholders, understanding business and being able to find the best way forward for Vattenfall, as well as for the society, through policy making.
You need to be a people-oriented person since this role includes a lot of interactions with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
You need to be able to transform complex information to clear and crisp messages, both orally and written

You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree or you graduate before September 2023. You are fluent in English. Skills in other world languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.

You will belong to Public and Regulatory Affairs (PRA) which is part of Staff Functions Communications and the position is located in Stockholm, Sweden.

Selection period starts after the application period is closed with online tests followed by interviews in March. An assessment is also part of the recruitment process and will take place in April. The recruitment process will be finalized in May. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the Vattenfall International Trainee Programme will be September 4th 2023.
