Arbetsbeskrivning
Sveriges Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden, invites applications for our internship program for PhD students at Swedish or foreign universities. The selected interns will spend a period of two months at the Riksbank during August to December 2019. The monthly salary offered is SEK 25,000. The Riksbank will not cover travel or housing expenses.
The purpose of the internship program is to give PhD students an opportunity to interact with Riksbank researchers, and initiate collaborations, while conducting research into issues broadly relevant to the Riksbank. Students should therefore have finished the first-year course work of their PhD programs and started working on their dissertations, or be in the process of identifying a dissertation topic.
Participants in the program will gain insights into research work in a central bank, and benefit from interaction with Riksbank staff. Interns placed in the research division are expected to define and work on dissertation projects and present their achievements in a seminar towards the end of their stay. The Financial Stability Department is particularly interested in students who do research on financial stability, macroprudential policy, the relationship between the financial sector and aggregate economic activity, systemic risk, risk management and capital adequacy, financial risk modelling, stress testing, financial markets, household finance, financial econometrics, or banking. The Monetary Policy Department is interested in students who do research on monetary policy, forecasting, and macrofinancial analysis. Interns placed in the Financial Stability Department or Monetary Policy Department can expect to pursue a mix of directed research and work on dissertation projects of their own.
More information about the research division and research activities at the Sveriges Riksbank is available at our website: https://www.riksbank.se/en-gb/about-the-riksbank/the-tasks-of-the-riksbank/research.
Applications should arrive no later than 30 April 2019. Please indicate in a cover letter: (a) the preferred starting date, i.e., either mid-August or mid-October; and (b) if you are interested primarily in the Research Division, the Financial Stability Department, or Monetary Policy Department (you may indicate multiple options). Include also a curriculum vitae, a document from your university department listing completed courses in the PhD program, as well as a brief description of the internship project that you propose to work on. A finished paper is considered an extra qualification. One letter of recommendation from a supervisor, or other person at the department familiar with the applicant’s studies should be emailed directly to christoph.bertsch@riksbank.se and roberto.billi@riksbank.se. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of May 2019.
