Do you want to help us lead the transition into a fossil free future, and enable integration of more renewable power production into the European power system?
We see a rapid growth both in our own wind portfolio and in the demand for smart energy services why we now need to strengthen our Nordic team in Wind- & Customer optimisation with 2 new talents.
Wind & Customer Optimisation Nordic is a performance oriented department in BA Markets responsible for optimisation of Vattenfall’s Nordic Wind- and Customer portfolio on physical power markets. The intraday-market is highly important for our business already today, and will be crucial for further integration of renewable energy. Thus we have a key role for the realisation of Vattenfall’s strategy to lead the transition into a sustainable energy system by enabling further investments in fossil free power. The team is expected to be innovative, high performing and flexible – ready to cope with the rapidly changing dynamics of the European Power market.
The role as Intraday Power Trader / Analyst:
Members in the Intraday-team work part time at the trading-desk in our Nordic dispatch center and part time with other responsibilities such as market analysis, developing trading strategies and systems/tools for quantitative and data-driven decision support in order to continuously improve our business. This position will include roughly 50% work at the Intraday desk (scheduled work, will include working early mornings, late evenings and some weekends) while the remaining time will be focused on analytical tasks supporting our experts in market analysis and development of algorithmic trading.
This combined role provides an interesting and challenging job with varying tasks. Working at the intraday desk will give you a deep understanding about the fundamentals of the Nordic power market – the perfect introduction to our business. That knowledge will then be essential for your analysis- and business development tasks, where we expect you to be creative, take own initiatives and think outside of the box when developing new solutions and trading strategies. IT and data are integral parts of all our processes and in this role you will be introduced to data analysis, advanced forecasting tools and algorithmic-trading.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Act part-time (50%) as Intraday power trader at the Nordic dispatch center
Support our experts in continuous development of Vattenfall’s Nordic intraday trading activities (market analysis, trading strategies, algos, forecasts etc.)
Challenge established solutions and initiate new business improvements
We are looking for a person with:
Relevant University degree (e.g. Engineering, IT, Econometrics or any other mathematical subject)
Programming and data analysis skills (preferably in Python)
Business sense and a “trader’s mindset”
Flexibility and ability to keep many activities ongoing simultaneously
Fluent in Swedish and good skills in English
Our offer:
We offer an interesting and challenging job within one of Europe’s leading energy companies and in a vital business area where we expect substantial growth within the next few years. You will be part of a innovative, dynamic and high performing team active in a rapidly changing market which provides quick feedback and reward. Initially you will work closely together with our market leading experts on market analysis and intraday trading and then your responsibilities will grow gradually as you are building knowledge and expertise. Over time you will have great opportunities to influence and steer your career path according to your own aspirations.
