Investments and Portfolio Analysis is responsible for providing investment project and portfolio analysis as a service to Fortum’s divisions and development units. We also drive investment portfolio optimization across the Group by collecting and consolidating the project initiatives and prepare different capex scenarios to facilitate top management steering of the investment portfolio. We develop asset degradation models to support optimizing scope and times of asset interventions and generally promote data based decision making practices. We are also responsible for Fortum’s overall investment process and related instructions together with Corporate Business Control. Finally, we manage Fortum’s insurance management process and the related risk analysis.
About the role
You will be involved hands-on in large development/investment projects and will contribute to Fortum’s capital allocation effort. Your work will include scrutinization of business cases and co-creating alternative solutions together with colleagues from different units, development of frameworks to equalize monetary and non-monetary benefits on common economic scale, building and improving optimization algorithms and and development of new assessment tools and improvement of existing ones. This position offers you an excellent possibility to learn the principles of the asset-intensive energy business and to further develop your problem-solving and analytical skills in a dynamic business setting. Your future teams consists of around ten colleagues. This role offers you the opportunity to learn from our engaged analysis team and to liaise with Fortum's key project and business developers, other key experts, and managers. This role can be located either in Espoo, Finland or Solna, Sweden and will be reporting to the Vice President, Investments and Portfolio Analysis.

What we are looking for:
• You hold a master’s degree in engineering or economics.
• We highly value excellent academic performance, i.e. you have excellent grades as proof of your motivation and intrinsic capabilities.
• What comes to experience requirements, you can be a fresh graduate from university, or you may already have accumulated several years of professional work experience from some field. The role can be tailored to fit both.
• What is important is that you are genuinely interested and capable of solving complex business and technical problems both conceptually and by using quantitative methods and simulation.
• Fluency in English is needed – additional language skills e.g. Finnish, Swedish, German or Russian are considered as a merit.
• We expect you to be fluent in preparing presentations in MS PowerPoint and operating with MS Excel and we very much value programming skills in one or more major programming languages (e.g. Python, Java).
• Human interaction is vital part of the role and having good stress tolerance and “thick skin” is useful attribute as one should expect occasional conflicts in this line of work.
