ABOUT THE POSITION
This position, located at the Australian Embassy in Stockholm, is a key business development role in the Stockholm team, to assist in promoting, attracting and facilitating productive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Australia.
Priority sectors to be covered by this role will be aligned to Australian federal government priorities and may vary from time to time. Existing networks, knowledge and experience aligned to priority sectors of Advanced Manufacturing and Space, Digital Technologies - particularly focussed on Global Net Zero objectives are preferred.
The position requires a highly motivated senior team member fluent in English and Swedish with experience in business development, preferably in an international environment.
You will identify and assist Nordic (and occasionally Baltic) companies to invest in the Australian market and help them develop entry strategies. This role will require you to understand the market opportunities in the Australian priority sectors and articulate Australia's advantage as an attractive investment destination for investment and convince firms based in the Nordics to establish business operations in Australia. You will develop relationships with members of the Australian ecosystem and provide companies with tailored advice, insights and assistance to invest in Australia.
The role can require travel within the Nordics and potentially elsewhere in Europe or Australia.
The role includes a six-month probation period.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Proactively identify, target and work closely with potential corporate investors in Nordic and Baltic countries to secure new foreign direct investment for Australia. This will involve the identification of potential investors based on Australian opportunities; research and presentation of tailored information on industry capability and articulating the commercial benefits of investing in Australia;
Represent Austrade by delivering compelling presentations at business events and in CEO level meetings to promote the advantages of Australia as a location for investment and trade partner;
Apply strategic thought to identify and report issues or barriers to investment to the Australian government and to propose innovative solutions which will increase results;
Develop, maintain and support extensive senior level business, industry networks and external and internal stakeholders in Nordics and Australia. This will include other Australian government agencies and State government offices, as well as key local government officials, regulatory bodies and allies such as industry associations, regional development groups and professional service providers;
Support the Australian federal government strategy for priority sectors through social media;
Work as part of an Austrade team and maintain Austrade standards and policies, including diversity in the workplace, ethical practice and occupational health and safety principles and compliance with audit requirements;
Plan, coordinate and implement physical and virtual events, market visits and delegations visiting Australia, where appropriate in collaboration with State/Territory Governments, industry associations and allies in Australia;
Contribute to business planning, marketing and communications initiatives within the Australian Trade and Investment Commission Stockholm team;
Efficiently manage a constantly changing workload covering diverse industry sectors, large numbers of clients/customers, within internally and externally driven timeframes;
Actively apply Austrade business practices and maintain accuracy of information in all Austrade Business Systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and effective relationship management;
Contribute to knowledge creation within Austrade, by adopting information practices, sharing knowledge and information and by embracing best practice and development opportunities;
Work collaboratively within the Austrade network to contribute to service delivery and achieve desired outcomes, while upholding the Australian Public Service (APS) Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct and Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:
Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Stockholm, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in Sweden at the time of appointment.
Language - the successful candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English and Swedish.
Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening process and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the role.
