To help meet these future challenges Volvo Group Intellectual Property are searching for an IP Intelligence Analyst to join the IP Strategy & Portfolio team.


Volvo Group Intellectual Property – who are we?
We are responsible for managing IP for the entire Volvo Group which includes Group Trucks Technology, Buses, Penta and Construction Equipment. As such we drive the cost-effective creation and use of IP to support profitability, competitiveness and growth across products, supply chain and R&D.
We develop and govern the Group IP Plan and IP principles, considering the business priorities of the entire Group, thereby providing guidance to all internal stakeholders on how to realize business value from IP.
We are a diverse group with a great mix of gender, age, nationality and experiences. Whilst the core of the team is located in Gothenburg we work globally with team members situated at different sites around the globe.


About the role
You are a member of a team of IP Intelligence Analysts within the IP Strategy & Portfolio team.
Each person in this team works with a number of technical and business areas within Volvo Group.
As an IP Intelligence Analyst, you search for, combine, analyze and draw conclusions on external IP information (mostly patents) into deliveries, which are then utilized to make strategic IP, technology, and business decisions across the Volvo Group.
You interact directly with the people making requests who may be from R&D, purchasing or from within Volvo Group Intellectual Property in order to understand what needs to be done. You communicate the results yourself, often leading to further iterations, deeper understanding and increased impact.
By working in this way, you form excellent relationships with stakeholders at many levels and from diverse areas of Volvo Group.
You may also take initiative to initiate your own projects to analyze areas that you and your colleagues agree are important to Volvo Group.
You are an expert user of one or more patent search tools such as PatentSight and Derwent Innovation.
You support the creation of the annual Group IP Plan, for example by:
Creating strategic IP intelligence analyses.
Collaborating with your colleagues to integrate these analyses with other aspects of the Group IP Plan to formulate the Volvo Group IP strategy.

You support continuous improvement, for example by:
Ensuring that the in-house suite of patent search tools is “fit for purpose” enabling the IP Intelligence team to deliver high quality work in an efficient way.
Improving processes, methods and tools for performing IP Intelligence.

The position promises a unique mix of challenges, pushing you to create and maintain relations with colleagues across continents, functions and Group companies.
You report to the Group Director IP Strategy & Portfolio.


Who are you?
You are an excellent communicator who enjoys building networks and collaborative relationships. You can think strategically, and translate it into tasks, activities and priorities.
Active interest in innovation, technology, intellectual property, society and the global competitive business landscape.
Strong business acumen, and general knowledge of automotive technologies
Service-minded with strong customer focus.


Qualifications
M.Sc. in engineering, information science or in Intellectual Capital Management.
Good knowledge of patents, patent classifications and up-to-date knowledge of IP strategies, trends, developments and practices.
Documented analytical skills including the ability to manage and compile large amounts of complex and diverse data, and how to visualize such data.
Strong skillset in both written and verbal communication to a wide range of stakeholders and management levels both for F2F and virtual meetings and settings.
Preferably have working experience of patent search tools such as PatentSight and Derwent Innovation.
Fluent in English.
