ISGR is looking for a Deputy Principal for the IB Primary Years Programme

The International School of the Gothenburg Region (ISGR) is a prominent international school and one of 6% IB world schools offering the full International Baccalaureate continuum of learning through three programs: PYP K-5; MYP 6-10; and IB Diploma Program 11 & 12. ISGR was established in 1997 to meet the needs of the growing number of expatriate families coming to Gothenburg for work or study and requiring an International Education for their children. ISGR also offers a Swedish National Program section that follows the LGR 11 national curriculum. Collectively, ISGR has over 1000 students enrolled in its programs. ISGR is seeking to recruit a Deputy Principal for the IB Primary Years Programme for August 2020. The position will be a permanent position of 100%, starting with a trial six month period.
The PYP Deputy Principal is a key role within the educational management team at ISGR.
Successful candidates will bring to the position:
● A degree within education.
● An attitude which fosters a positive learning and teaching climate.
● An enthusiasm to play an active role in school leadership meetings and contribute in whole school strategic planning meetings .
● A desire to promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration across the PYP team and the Swedish national programme.
● A drive to achieve the school’s goals and provide a high quality education.
● An understanding of the IB philosophy, the curriculum and how the PYP works.
● An understanding of purchasing and monitoring a budget.
● Experience in working with schedule design.
● Excellent use of both English and Swedish, other languages are seen as beneficial.
● Upkeep of staff and student accounts, monitoring attendance.
Particular responsibilities specific to ISGR:
● Organise staff PD records and emergency information.
● Induction of staff.
● Organise substitute teachers and cover staff absence when needed.
● Write and upkeep rotas including outdoor breaks, duties, oversee the duties and liaise with the leadership with regard to staffing.
● Liaise with Gothenburg University to organise and place Erasmus teaching students.
● Deal with daily student, staff and parent issues as they arise.
● Run and develop the student council.
● Other administrative tasks
