We serve over 90 million consumers worldwide, and partner with 200,000 merchants – with a new merchant joining us every 8 minutes. Our offices are spread over 17 different markets, hosted by 3500+ employees from 90 nationalities.

Engineering at Klarna is an inspired, customer focused community, dedicated to crafting solutions that redefine our industry. Working in small, highly collaborative Agile teams, you and your team will have a clear mission and ownership of an important outcome that supports Klarna and our customers. At Klarna we optimise for quality, flow, fast feedback, focussing on end-to-end ownership, continuous improvement, testing, monitoring and experimentation. We aim for teams that are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things they build.

Our engineers make some of the most significant decisions for the company and we are looking for bold, open and curious developers. As a Klarnaut, you’ll be inspired to contribute to the growth of Europe’s most highly valued fintech and your work will reach millions of users.

Engineering is rapidly growing and we are looking for new talent to join our IT Productivity teams!

What you'll get to do

As an engineer in the Productivity Infrastructure team you will operate and manage the foundation of our mission critical systems supporting our ways of working: Atlassian Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket. You will also be involved in managing and optimizing AWS operations for these systems. You will work closely with other teams in the Productivity group to ensure that we deliver the best productivity experience possible to our internal customers around the world.

Some of the things you'll get to work with
Ensure our Atlassian applications are managed for High Availability, Performance and Security in a swift growing environment.
Setting up non-production environments and carry out test scenarios.
Trouble-shoot issues in Data Center.
Continuously improve both the underlying infrastructure in AWS as well as the central system configurations.
Create and maintain necessary monitoring, dashboards and alarms to be able to react upon.
Support other Productivity teams in larger efforts implementing requested business processes and with end user support when needed.
Scope and implement gold standard solutions that are easy to understand and reusable.
Identify issues and risks proactively.
Take ownership of incidents, with hard debugging and reverse engineering tasks.
Documenting and sharing knowledge instinctively.
Implement Infrastructure as code.
Use CI/CD Tools for automation tasks.

You should have

You might be a more Atlassian oriented person:
You have a deep understanding of user requirements related to the applications and also the ability to implement sustainable solutions. You have been working as an admin in any of the applications we use and want to focus on the back-end of the applications. You need to understand the Data Center deployment option for all our three applications and have experience managing the applications in a clustered environment. Can take ownership of implementations and drive them efficiently. Communication and knowledge sharing is a natural part of your profile.

..or maybe you are more of a cloud operations profile:
You are highly experienced in AWS architecture, infrastructural design and operations. Specifically related to the Atlassian products JIRA, Confluence and Bitbucket. You consider yourself as a Linux system administrator and know your way around tasks related to this.

You master the most common AWS Services like: EC2, RDS, EFS, CloudWatch, Lambda and have experience in setting up these services using CloudFormation. You have knowledge of integrating systems and you build automations like; AMI pipelines, CloudFormation updates, termination life-cycles using CI/CD, like Jenkins.

You might even fit both profiles, and this would of course be really cool.

Either way, you thrive when there are many things going on and you can manage a multi-task environment well.

What we can offer you

Culture - You'll have an opportunity to work with people from 90+ different countries in our English speaking offices in Stockholm/Berlin city centre.

Learning - We have a learning and development focused environment with an emphasis on knowledge sharing, training, and regular internal technical talks.

Compensation - You’ll receive an attractive salary, pension, and insurance plans, plus we offer all of our employees an opportunity to invest in a RSU program and own a stake of the company. You’ll also receive 30 days annual leave and since we recognise that life is about more than work, we also offer benefits for gym memberships, marathons, and all sorts of activities that promote physical health. We also have generous parental leave (for men and women).

We know diverse teams are strong teams, so we welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our teams include women, men, mothers, fathers, the self-taught, the college-educated, and people from all over the world.

We also believe in making contributions back to the open source community. You can find some of our work at https://github.com/klarna.
