At the moment we are looking for a combustion/CFD-engineer assigned at Siemens Energy in Finspång.

Assignment description

There is an increased workload and the combustion group therefore needs reinforcement at our customer Siemens Energy in Finspång.

* One field that we want to be investigated is to further increase our fuel flexibility capability to further expand the usage of green fuels. The most challenging green fuel for dry low emission combustion is hydrogen and hydrogen enriched fuels due to its high reactivity moving the flame upstream causing risk of excessive heat load on the burner.
* The burners and the flames are a central part of a gas turbine and they are utterly important to minimize the combustion dynamics and emission levels, as well as maximizing the fuel flexibility and optimizing life time of the structure. Therefore, it is important to improve our combustion prediction of hydrogen enriched fuels and even other liquid fuels and perform model calibration to measurement data.
* In the development process we use network models, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), acoustic simulations, water tests, atmospheric and high-pressure combustion tests, and gas turbine engine tests. The goal of this project is to study the performance of numerical simulations of various fuels and evaluate the results to already performed combustion tests and coming prototype testing.
CFD calculation in Star-CCM+ and acoustic simulations, data post processing and verification of the results as compared to measurment data.
Previous experience with CFD and acoustic programs, programming skills and/or measurements are an advantage


What do I need to qualify for this job?

* Educationalwise we are looking for a mechanical engineer (MSc or higher) who has a clear focus on fluid dynamics, areodynamics and thermodynamics and/or heat transfer and thermodynamics.
* Previous experience from turbomachinery, CFD and / or fluid dynamics experiments is requested.
* Also skills in development of technical tools or software (programming) is an advantage.
* StarCCM+-knowledge is a merit.
* Knowledge in Swedish is an advantage and good written and spoken English is a must.
* Personal properties requested are to be thorough, systematic, and a solution finder, skilled in communication, ability to take initiatives and come up with proposals how to solve a problem.
* We are interested in both junior and senior profiles.
