Arbetsbeskrivning

Be a part of developing cutting-edge HVDC cables enabling transformation to green energy
If you have solid experience in developing Multiphysics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models and are keen on an opportunity to utilize this competence, we might have the right job for you. As an R&D Multiphysics Specialist in our multi-cultural team you will contribute in the development of our world class DC cable systems. Being part of NKT opens a world of future career opportunities as well as learning possibilities.
Be a valuable asset in the development of our Mass Impregnated (MI) and extruded cable systems
NKT invests heavily within the research and development area and has a pioneering track record with several recent world records such as the recently qualified 640 kV extruded DC cable system.
The main purpose with this role is to enhance the product performance and optimize the product design. One key factor is to make a proper balance between model complexity and its usefulness.
Your primary tasks will be:
• Developing Multiphysics and CFD models to optimize our MI and extruded DC cable systems
• Recommendations on design change based on the modelling results
• Suggest characterization methods needed for model development and verification
• Evaluate, interpret and explain the modelling results
• Give recommendations based on the outcomes of the developed models
• Participate as R&D Project Support in our commercial projects
• Participate as an expert in R&D projects
You will be a part of a highly skilled team, based in Karlskrona in the southern part of Sweden. In Karlskrona, NKT has a state of the art manufacturing facility for manufacturing high voltage and extra high voltage power cables, the largest AC & DC electrical test labs in northern Europe and Victoria a cable laying vessel. We are a part of the international technology organization with colleagues in Cologne, Alingsås and at NKTs research team in Västerås. Externally we participate in multiple working groups as members in Cigré and other similar committees as well as collaboration with Sweden’s leading universities KTH, CTH and DTU in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Analytical and inquisitive problem solver with good communication skills
We are looking for an enthusiastic and goal driven specialist who can contribute to NKT keeping its role as a world leading manufacturer of high voltage cables. You are creative in verifying and cross checking the model results and solve problems with a critical, investigational and systematic mindset.
You thrive in a role where you effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members to achieve the project goals as well as being able to work independently.
You must like and be good at analysing data and be able to deliver additional conclusions and recommendations. To succeed, it is also important that you can convert your ideas and conclusions as well as tailor your communication to your audience.
Additionally, your CV comprises:
• MSc or PhD in physics, electrical engineering or related majors
• Experience in developing Multiphysics and CFD models
• Proficiency and affinity with modern IT tools for engineering, such as Matlab or Comsol
• Fluency in spoken and written English
