Our mission
At Propulsion Development at Scania R&D, we develop Scania’s next generation of electrified and conventional power trains, providing superior propulsion solutions for a sustainable future.
As part of our team, you will partake in the development of the hardware from the drawing table to the industrialized product making sure that the solution meets the customer targets.
Our group
UPBG Gears, shafts and planetary - works with the design, testing, and validation of high-performance gears, shafts and bearings in the main and planetary gearbox ensuring best-in-class performance for efficient, durable and reliable power trains. Our group consist of design and test engineers, scrum masters, and product owners that work together in a customer-centric, and exploring approach.
Our culture
We are a mixed group in terms of experience, where some have worked for more than twenty years in the field, and others for one year. Together the group holds a lot of knowledge and expertise and we promote a helpful, inclusive and supportive working environment. We interact across different functions and a design engineer is in frequent collaboration/communication with assembly, machining, external suppliers or the sourcing department at Scania.
About the role
We think you are someone with a few years of experience as a design engineer and want to delve into the development of transmission components and machine design. As a design engineer at UPBG, you will be responsible for torque transfer hardware parts in the main and planetary gearbox and tasked to design, create drawings, define investigations for simulation and testing, and follow up results to iteratively develop our designs and products.
Your profile
You put quality first combined with an understanding of customer needs, and are responsible and thorough. Curiosity and interest in details are something that will help you in this role. Being helpful and humble in your interactions with colleagues of all levels is important for you.
Qualifications
- an engineering or master's degree in mechanical engineering, materials technology, vehicle technology or similar
- 2-3 years of experience working as a design engineer
- knowledge of CATIA V5 or similar CAD tools
- it is positive if you have previous experience in gearbox construction and design
Good to have:
- some knowledge of drawing standards
- some experience in tolerance chain analysis
