Business Area Markets / Fundamental Analysis is looking for the right candidate to fill the position of Junior Fundamental Analyst.


The role
As a Junior fundamental analyst you will be part of a highly professional and international team of skilled analysts. You actively support the development of our fundamental price forecasting models, which have high impact on the success of our trading and asset optimization businesses, and you contribute to decision making on a corporate level.


About us
Business Area Markets maximises the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimising, dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall’s assets and sales positions. As part of the Fundamental Analysis department, we deliver models and analyses on commodity markets, deals and assets. We provide scenario-based forecasts of power prices and analysis of price drivers to support decision making in the traded market horizon and beyond.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities
You will contribute to the development of our short-term power price forecasting model. In that role you are a member of an agile team that consists of experienced analysts, IT developers and users from the business. With your work you provide important input for the planning and dispatch of our assets, development of trading strategies.

Your main tasks as a Junior Fundamental Analyst are:
Active engagement with our stakeholders to understand their specific needs
Development and maintenance of our short-term price forecasting model. This entails a large share of coding (Python) and data handling
Support business during the regular price prognosis process



As part of your continuous development as an analyst, you will also do an assignment in which you will work operationally, supporting the price forecasting shift in Vattenfall’s Nordic dispatch centre, creating the short-term price forecasts to support bidding strategies and dispatch decisions for our power generation units. Depending on business needs and your development path, supporting other operational shifts may also be an option. During this period, it is possible that you will have to work outside normal office hours.
This experience will strengthen your understanding of our business and give you the opportunity to understand how our analyses are used.


Qualifications
You hold a mathematical degree (e.g. engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent qualifications and experience)
High computer literacy, in particular programming skills, preferably Python
Excellent English language skills, both verbally and written; Swedish language skills are a plus
Knowledge about the energy and power markets is not a must, but beneficial
