The Science Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Junior Electrical Engineer.
Description of directorate/division
The Electrical Engineering Group (EEG) is part of the Neutron Technologies Division and dedicated to provide and support key components and technologies required for the construction and operation of the facilities scientific instruments. The group will compose of engineers and technicians of different areas of expertise, responsible for the evaluation, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, safety interlock and motion/automation control systems on all instruments.
Group members will operate within the simulating environment of the scientific research, working closely with instrument engineers and scientists to define specifications and solutions required for the construction of the facilities world-leading suite of neutron scattering instruments.
Description of main responsibilities
The successful candidate will participate in the evaluation process of a generic motion control unit for the ESS Neutron Scattering Instrumentation:
• Support the HW engineers of the EEG in testing the different motion control units and components, prepare the documentation of the test series.
• Compiling a list of Standard Motion Control components for the use of ESS.
• And other works related to the tasks.
Qualifications
• Engineers degree (BSc) in Electrical Engineering or Electronics with a strong focus on Control Systems, Automation, Test & Measure etc.
• Experience in development and programming of automation systems during university studies either by practical work or assignments (bachelor thesis, industrial placement etc.)
• Firs working experience preferably in a scientific or university environment is a plus.
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Duration & Location
The position is time limited employment of 6 months. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
