VACANCY
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique scientific instruments. Every year, the Institute hosts over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to carry out world-class research in condensed matter physics, crystallography, soft matter, biology, chemistry and fundamental physics. The Projects and Techniques Division, which is responsible for the development of the ILL's scientific instruments and for technical support, currently has a vacancy for an:

Junior Electronic Engineer

Duties:
You will be working within the Instrument Control Service (SCI) which plays a leading role in the design, construction and maintenance of most of the hardware and software related to the control of the institute's innovative instruments.
You will be in charge of the following:
-Development of sample handling and positioning robot for both use case: high precision and heavy load,
-Development of trajectory follow-up instrument movements,
-Integration within our motion control system.

Qualifications and experience:
-You should have a Master's degree (or equivalent) specialising in Electronics engineering,
-Experience in mechatronics and knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS),
-Knowledge of Linux operating system as well as Python programming language is mandatory,
-Experience with embedded software development and FPGA programming will be a bonus,
-You are able to interact with scientists, are service oriented and are ready to spend some time on the floor in the experimental halls. You are a team player with good organisational skills.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Notes:
This post is a 36-month "specified-purpose" fixed-term contract.
Medical fitness for work under ionising radiation is required.
Post based in Grenoble and subject to administrative screening.
