Systemic Reaction, part of Avalanche Studios Group, is looking for a Junior QA Engineer to work on Second Extinction. Second Extinction is our co-op FPS over the top dino slaying game being developed in our Malmö studio. It was recently released into Early Access on Steam and Second Extinction, according to The Sixth Axis “...should be heading straight to the top of your most wanted list.”
The Position
You will work as part of a dedicated product QA team ensuring that the game’s updates maintain a high level of quality on their release. You will also be working across different sku’s including the next generation Xbox X Series to ensure a parallel and excellent experience will be had by all our players.
As part of the QA team you will be working closely with many different people within the different development disciplines. As a junior you will be given support and training in order to best analyze game features, create test plans, execute testing and communicate with the team.
Your main tasks will be to perform functional and qualitative testing of gameplay mechanics, as well as to write and execute test cases. It will be your responsibility to identify, isolate and report all issues into a bug tracking tool and have firm knowledge of bug writing to a high standard. You will need to be proactive and clearly communicate concerns, work within deadlines, take direction well and actively promote testing within the development.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of professional QA experience in the video games industry
- Experience of analyzing and executing testing
- Knowledge of bug writing and bug tracking software (e.g. JIRA)
- A holistic and tenacious approach to problem-solving
- Excellent English (written and verbal) and communication skills
- Patience and attentiveness to details
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with PC and Console testing
- An interest in playing games from different genres
- Education in fields related to games and/or testing
- An understanding of testing theory and project development life cycle
- Experience with debugging software and software crash outputs
