Arbetsbeskrivning
Quality Assurance is a critical aspect of any games development project and at Thunderful we place enormous value on the detail and quality of our products. Up until now, we have not had any dedicated, in-house, QA department but that is about to change!
Our first step in creating this new department is to find a few talented people who want to join us and be part of starting up the department. Thankfully we are not starting from scratch as we have support from other parts of the Thunderful family that has their own in-house QA departments. As your experience and skill develop, you will create Test Plans and take ownership of areas of the game, leading testing in those areas.
Your role and that of the wider team is to find inconsistencies and bugs in the game experience. You will lead and oversee the testing activity document, monitor and report on project milestones, and work with the development team to ensure the quality of the game is ready for release.
At junior level in the department, you will work under the supervision of a senior tester to develop the skills to create test plans, until reaching a solid level of proficiency and confidence.
This is a full-time position working from our Gothenburg office.
This position requires EU citizenship or you already have a Swedish work permit.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Testing of titles as designated.
- Creating efficient bug reports and clear, concise reproduction steps for developers.
- Monitoring and maintaining the bug database.
- Creating and carrying out Test Plans.
- Communicating with the QA team and leads about known issues and progress on them.
- Maintaining documentation on Confluence of all required QA processes, as well as titles as and when required.
- Working directly with developers regarding quality issues and providing practical support in the resolution of the issues.
- Tracking stable builds through daily smoke tests.
- Creating reports for build sign-offs.
- Any other reasonable duty assigned to you that is line with your skills, knowledge and ability.
Who are you?
As this is a junior position it is not critical that you have previous experience in QA, although that would be a big plus, it's more about your personality. As you will be working with different projects and many different people and stakeholders you must be a good team player and communicator. We value a flexible approach for this role as things move quickly and demands and prerequisites can change rapidly. QA is all about the details so having attention to detail is of utmost importance.
About the company:
Thunderful is a relatively new company, but with old roots. It was formed by several small indie companies coming together to make something greater than they could have done independently. Over the last few years, Thunderful has grown into four different offices with roughly 120 people making games in team sizes between 15-35 people.
The teams within have developed the award-winning SteamWorld series, known for its frequent genre-hopping and inclusive design, as well as more recent AA games like The Gunk, Lost in Random, and other, un-announced but equally charming titles.
About the Gothenburg Office
Our majestic Thunderful Games HQ in Gothenburg towers over all surrounding buildings except its slightly taller neighbors (we'll get there someday). Don't mistake it for a typical office! Inside you'll find a custom-built game dev powerhouse with some of the industry's very best. The Gothenburg teams have been at it for over two decades and worked their way to the top with the SteamWorld series and EA Originals like Fe and Lost in Random.
From our rooftop terrace, we overlook the bustling city center with its canal, delightful eateries, a rich cultural life, and a fascinating past - all within walking distance!
