Junior R&D Engineer to cleantech company Epishine

Arbetsbeskrivning

Are you a curious and ambitious engineer, perhaps within physics, chemistry or material science, looking to build your skills and competence? Maybe you are graduating this summer and looking for somewhere to start your career? Does the idea of doing that in a growing scale-up in the clean energy sector sound exciting? Then you should apply to become Junior R&D Engineer at Epishine!

About Epishine
Epishine was founded on the basis of more than 30 years of research in organic electronics, photovoltaics and the development of our breakthrough manufacturing process within printed indoor solar cells. This unique manufacturing process achieves a ground-breaking level of scalability in terms of manufacturing, and provides industry-leading efficiency in low light conditions. Our first product is optimised for harvesting energy in low light, indoor environments. It’s a small, thin and flexible indoor solar cell, printed on recyclable plastic that is easily integrated into wireless products where it converts light into electricity.
Epishine's vision is to make our planet more sustainable. Nothing less and nothing more. Our mission is to be at the forefront of printed organic solar cells and, in a series of phases, offer the world’s most scalable, resource-efficient, and affordable solar cell. Our company was founded in 2016 and consists of dedicated teams working together at our headquarters in Linköping, Sweden. To learn more about Epishine’s work and vision, go to www.epishine.com

The mission
As Junior R&D Engineer at Epishine, you will be working with R&D on a material level with the goal of improving functionality, cost, performance and the reliability of our product. Being part of our R&D Team, you will assist in and carry out product experiments along with experimental fabrication of lab solar cells and the characterisation of these. You will make devices, evaluate their performance, summarise data and write reports. Your first 6 months will also consist of working in our production process so that you get an understanding for the challenges we face in terms of material. Since we are a small team, you need to be open to carry out other tasks as required.
As Epishine grows, so will you! As you strengthen your skillset, you will be provided with more responsibility as R&D support in our various projects. Over time, depending on your interests and skills, you can become specialized in areas ranging from deeper properties of the solar cell to various engineering tasks.
You will report to our CTO whilst also working closely with the whole R&D team; our R&D Director, Senior R&D Engineers, other Junior R&D Engineers, as well as with our Quality Manager. You will also be in close contact with our other teams, such as Operations team and Process Development team. The position is located in our facilities in Linköping.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a master’s degree in physics, chemistry, material science or other relevant area. Perhaps you have already graduated, or will be graduating this summer. It is beneficial if you have lab experience or experience from organic electronics. No previous work experience is required.
We will put a lot of value in your personality. We believe that you have an analytical and problem-solving perspective that allows you to work well with complex tasks. You set out goals for yourself and seek out challenges in your work. You can with ease collaborate with other people and discuss issues in a constructive way. Moreover, we believe you are a self-driven person who can structure your own work and take responsibility for the task at hand. Finally, we believe you have great communication skills where you clarify expectations and follow up when necessary.
As our teams consists of colleagues from various parts of the world, you must be comfortable communicating in verbal as well as in written English.
