Job description
We are now looking for a new team member for ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) in Stockholm. You will work as a Junior Scientific Expert and support the PHF Unit (Public Health Functions Unit) and in particular the EPRS Section (Emergency Preparedness Response Support). This is a temporary assignment starting in January 2024 and two months forward. For the right person there is a good chance of extension of the assignment.
ECDC has introduced a hybrid working model with a minimum presence in the office of 2 days/week and you will need to be located in Stockholm or nearby.

Responsibilities
Tasks include:
- ECDC seeks to identify strengths and areas for improvement of public health emergency preparedness in EU member states. ECDC then has the goal to develop competency based training programmes to improve the preparedness of the member states. One task of this position would be to contribute to the development and revision of working instructions in regards to the new ECDC Public Health Emergency (PHE) Plan.
- Provide support for the development of simulation exercises and After-Action Reviews
- Support the process for shaping a coordinated approach for ECDC to support Member States in the revision of National (Pandemic) Preparedness/Health Emergency Plans, including the preparations of a conference to take place in May 2024
- Contribute to the coordination of ECDC internal response operations
- Contribute to the organisation of Country Assessment Missions abroad
Qualifications
In addition to the profile specification, these specific competences and experience are required for the current assignment:
Education at university level in an area related to the activities of ECDC such as medicine, public health or similar
At least 1 year professional experience relevant to the scientific area
Preferably experience of Emergency Preparedness and some knowledge in communicable diseases
Preferably experience in writing instructions/advice
Meeting planning and implementation skills
Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
Very good MS office skills
