We are looking for junior talent to add to our security automation team. You will work in a team responsible for handling the logical parts of Cybersecurity. Your team is mainly responsible for:
Programming automated means of gathering known and published technical vulnerabilities
Programming automated scoping of technical vulnerabilities
Analyzing and risk assessing technical vulnerabilities
Programming automated approval tests for vulnerability patching
Programming automated security hardening of Linux hosts
Programming automated tests of security hardening
Programming automated security auditing and reporting
Programming automated network scanning
Programming automated penetration testing
Programming automated code hardening tests
This is, of course, a team effort, and we will teach you all of the above. Of course, it is meriting if you have prior experience in any of the mentioned tasks, but not required. We use automation tools such as Ansible and AWX and automated testing with Zuul and Gerrit. You will learn how to meet the strictest of security and compliance demands through security automation intended for a cloud service delivery.
What you need to have when you start
This is a junior role, and we fully expect that we will have to educate and train you to fulfill your work requirements. However, there are a few things we need you to have in terms of past experience:
You need to be experienced in Linux administration. All of our relevant infrastructures are Linux based.
You need to be experienced in reading and writing code. You will work mostly in Python, but it is ok if you have prior experience in any programming language.
We have no requirements that you have any formal education. We are fine if you meet our needs through past work experience or formal education, or even home experimentation.
Apart from the required experience, we have the following expectations on your individual skills:
You need to have an open and curious mind. You will continuously learn new things. We expect you to embrace continuous improvement of yourself the same way you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and security.
You need to be genuinely interested in information security. We will teach you the relevant parts, but we expect you to have a genuine interest in the subject.
You need to be willing to improve your communication skills. We have an extensive team culture program, and we will require you to become an excellent communicator. We will train you, but you need to be prepared to put in the effort.
You need to be fluent in writing and speaking English. All our documentation is in English.
Who will be your manager
The hiring manager is Tony Hallén, Head of Quality Assurance.
Domain lead: Vida Ahmadi, CISO.
What timezone would I work in?
We have one mandatory weekly sync meeting of 1 hour at 1300 CET (UTC+1) every Monday. We try to keep our work as loosely-coupled as possible, so any work hours that work for you, normally work for us. We also perform an optional 20 min daily morning check-in at 0815 CET in which we would like you to participate if it is doable.
Is travel involved?
Not as part of your day-to-day. However, we do encourage travel to conferences and meetups, because that will give you an opportunity to learn and share your experience with your peers.
In addition, you should plan for at least two team meetings per year, somewhere on the planet, that we'd like you to participate in. That policy is of course on hiatus right now on account of COVID-19 travel restrictions, but we hope that you'll be with us for many years, and thus we feel it doesn't hurt to share this information now.
How's work at City Network?
We're growing pretty quickly at this stage, in customers, revenue, and headcount. We have recently been acquired by Iver and are part of the EQT family, but continue to operate as a separate unit under the Iver umbrella. That said, we're also solidly profitable, and the company has existed for more than 15 years, so don't expect cash-burning startup insanity. This is all a good position to be in, but to be candid, just like any other company, we're not perfect. As a company, we strive to improve and perfect the structure of how we collaborate and communicate, but we're not quite where we want to be in that regard. (We do have to set a pretty high bar here for ourselves, given that our role in the market comes with a great deal of responsibility.) So, we are actively looking for people who come with an open mindset and an eagerness to help us all get better. If you have specific technical expertise on an issue that another team of colleagues is working on, you should expect to be asked to contribute your knowledge to solve the problem — just as you will expect to get that same support from them, when you have an issue of your own to resolve. We actively work with team development in order both to secure trust between us and from an information security perspective. City Network has signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Swedish entity and is part of Iver AB.
What employment conditions apply?
You need to have a permanent residence within the European Union.
This is a full-time position with 6 weeks' vacation. We have a company policy that specifies a 6-month probation period.
We can offer direct employment agreements in Sweden and Germany. We are also able to offer proxy employment in many countries through a partner.
If you are interested in relocating to Sweden we offer assistance in the administrative process with the relevant government authorities, in which we have long experience. Financial sponsoring of relocation can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
What will I make?
Your salary (if you live in Sweden, and you're thus a full employee) is between SEK 27,000-32,000 monthly (depending on your experience and performance) — that is after employer taxes, before employee taxes, with legally applicable benefits.
If you live in another country, we make salary adjustments for purchasing power parity based on where you reside, according to the World Bank's PPP conversion rate applicable to your country.
I'm interested. What's next?
We'd like to hear from you! You'll be able to apply for this position until 2021-02-14, 2300 UTC.
