Role Overview

The Junior System Installation Design Engineer - Mechanical reports to the Head of Structures and Interiors. This role will be focused on the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design, mainly focusing on mechanical system design and integration activities.

This position will have broad responsibility of all aircraft mechanical systems, interfacing with internal and external teams. The role covers design and requirement implementation. As a junior engineering position, we are looking for candidates with the ability to develop professionally from their work experiences, and eventually assume technical ownership of designs, functions or products within the Systems Installation team.

Additional responsibilities include:

Aerospace mechanical system design, including environmental control systems, turbogenerators, oxygen systems, etc.

-
Design activities focusing on ducting, piping & fitting, as well as mechanical equipment integration.

-
Coordination with structures, interiors, and other systems on the mechanical and electrical interfaces related to your design responsibilities.

Supporting testing, prototyping activities including, but not limited to test facility development, component testing requirements including subcomponent, component and aircraft level testing.


Qualifications & Experience

-
M.Sc/M.Eng, or equivalent, in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

-
Understanding and experience in product development, including design, test and integration processes.

-
Experience with developing design concepts and performing trade-off studies.

-
Experience working on large collaborative projects and eagerness to work with others.

-
Proficiency with Catia V5/V6 and PLM systems (ideally 3DExperience).

-
Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.

-
Eagerness to work with others.

-
Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission.


The ideal candidate would have

-
Aircraft conceptual and preliminary design experience on a CS-23/CS-25 or regional aircraft program at an OEM or start-up.

-
Minimum 2 years design experience with at least two different aircraft mechanical systems understanding of mechanical systems design requirements and limitations.

-
Knowledge in basic sizing practices for ducts, tubes, and mechanical attachments (formed sheet metal, extruded, and/or machined brackets).

-
Familiar with typical aerospace hardware and standards used in the design of mechanical systems.

-
Practical experience in a test rig or iron-bird environment: assembly, fabrication / modification, instrumentation, wiring, instrumentation and data acquisition, LabView programming, mechanical system integration testing at system and aircraft level.

-
Proficiency coordinating activities of engineers in partner supplier companies.

-
Experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).

-
The desire to work with challenges and in a dynamic environment.

Aptitude for creative thinking and problem solving.
