Job Overview
The Kitchen Assistant will play a key role in supporting the chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen. This role involves preparing ingredients, assisting in food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and occasionally helping with simple food preparation tasks. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in developing their skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and preparing sauces and spices as required.
Kitchen Maintenance: Keep the kitchen clean and organized, ensuring surfaces, utensils, and equipment are sanitized and ready for use.
Inventory Support: Help with stock control by monitoring ingredient levels and notifying the kitchen manager when supplies are running low.
Dishwashing: Operate the dishwashing station and ensure that all utensils, plates, and equipment are clean and ready for use.
Assist Chefs: Provide support to chefs during busy hours, including handling food items, assisting in plating, and carrying out any other reasonable tasks to facilitate food preparation.
Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other duties as requested by the head chef or kitchen manager, including waste disposal, unloading deliveries, and helping with kitchen organization.
Requirements
Language Skills: Proficiency in English or Hindi is essential; knowledge of Swedish is a plus.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough with cleaning and food preparation tasks to maintain quality and hygiene standards.
Adaptability: Able to handle high-pressure situations, particularly during peak hours.
Team Player: Willingness to work as part of a team and take on various tasks as needed to ensure kitchen efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Basic knowledge of South Indian cuisine and an interest in learning about different cooking techniques and ingredients.
Certification in food safety and hygiene (can be provided or obtained upon joining if not already held).
